baby on beachEvery year, early spring and especially in summer, have extensive information campaigns and prevention of sun protection, the harmful effects of solar radiation on the skin, the relationship between sun exposure and skin cancer, among other things.

Mothers of babies and toddlers are lucky to abundant information provided by the media, dermatologists, pediatricians and the same processors sunscreens. Many times the information is confusing, frightening or even wrong or contradictory. It is therefore important to review in a clear and simple FAQ and some basic guidelines for skin care for babies and toddlers and also reject some myths about it.

The first thing to remember and apply without exception is the following rule to sun exposure:
* Newborns and babies under 6 months should never be exposed to direct sunlight.
* Infants over 6 months to 3 years but can be exposed with great care (see tips below), for short periods and using a protection factor broad-spectrum SPF 40 or higher.
* Over 3 years: Must be exposed to sunlight because it is a producer of vitamin D but not be exposed to an intense tanning, erythema (redness) or burns. Must bring your SPF sunscreen to their skin phototype.
